About the Fellowship:

We're excited to invite young people from the San Pedro Corridor community to apply for the Alleyway Mural-Loop Summer Fellowship! As a Youth Fellow you'll play a central role in transforming an alleyway through public art and will gain leadership and mural design experience that will carry you forward with helping shape the identity of the San Pedro Corridor.

This is a paid opportunity — each selected Youth Fellow will receive a $550 stipend for their participation. Prior art experience with mural design is encouraged but not required. What matters most is your enthusiasm, your connection to the community, and your willingness to show up, learn, and collaborate. We welcome young people of all backgrounds and experience levels to apply. We especially encourage young people who live or work along the corridor to apply.

As a youth fellow, you'll work closely with a professional muralist mentor and a cohort of other youth fellows, moving through the full mural process — from early concept and design through to final installation — with input from property owners at each stage. Alongside your mural work, you'll take on a leadership role by helping plan and lead monthly community stewardship days, where you'll bring neighbors together around cultural storytelling, mural design, and ecological care along the corridor. Materials for the murals and stewardship days are provided by the Revitalize San Pedro Partnership.

CALLING MURALISTS!

We're looking for up to five muralists to join us this summer. Each selected artist will receive $2,000 to lead the design and installation of an alleyway mural alongside a dedicated team of youth fellows. All materials are provided separately by the partnership.

As a muralist, you'll be supported by the Revitalize San Pedro Partnership and work closely with a cohort of 2–3 youth fellows, guiding them through the full mural process — from early concept and design to final implementation — with input from property owners at each stage. You'll also collaborate with your youth team during two community stewardship days, where teams engage the community in activities related to mural design process, cultural storytelling, and ecological care.

We welcome artists of all backgrounds to apply. What matters most is your experience with mural-making, your enthusiasm for mentoring young people, and your interest in contributing to the San Pedro Main Street Corridor community. We especially encourage artists who live or work in the area along the corridor to apply.

Muralist Commitment:

We want to set you up for success, and that starts with showing up together. Selected muralists are expected to participate in all the dates listed in the program's schedule, which are designed to give each mural team — one muralist paired with 2–3 youth fellows— the time, support, and community connection needed to bring a beautiful, meaningful mural to life by August 12, 2026.

The fellowship schedule includes celebration events, weekly workshops, and monthly stewardship days. Weekly workshops meet on Wednesdays from 10-12:30, and provide co-working time for mural teams to collaborate on mural design processes, work with property owners along the alleyway, and build the trust needed to successfully get the job done. Monthly stewardship days occur on the last Saturday of each month and run from 10am–2pm, and are a chance for the broader community to come together along the corridor to support teams in creating murals that are culturally connected and cared for.
